The Triple Crown for Heart provides support to children with heart conditions and their families through funds donated to two charities. Donations to inpatient cardiac wards at BC Children’s Hospital (T6 at BC Children’s Hospital Cardiac inpatient and ward Neuroscience/Surgery) through the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation provide support for small attainable projects to improve the family’s experience while in hospital and promote the healing and health of the pediatric heart patients and families. Examples of past projects include the renovation and maintenance of an outdoor garden (2010 -2013), contribution to the ICU and CCU family waiting area for a comfortable sofa bed, and ensuring a consistent supply of tea and coffee for parents in patient kitchens, among other initiatives.

The Triple Crown also provides support through donations to the Children’s Heart Network (CHN), a provincial, non-profit organization offering support, information, and education to families, children, and youth dealing with congenital or acquired heart disease. Each year the CHN organizes a summer camp for children and families living with congenital or acquired heart disease to provide opportunities for children and youth to participate in a wide range of recreational and social activities, to have fun and connect with others who face similar challenges.  Campers at Camp Zajac have 24 hour on-site medical supervision and a direct link to the cardiologist-on-call at BC Children’s Hospital if needed. Each year we dedicate a portion of the Triple Crown for Heart’s fundraising efforts to the CHN to support bringing children and youth safely to camp! Please see the video below:

Please join us in supporting cardiac children and families to ease their burden while in hospital, and help children and teens continue to enjoy outdoor experiences at a dedicated cardiac summer camp.
