Many challenges are faced by pediatric heart patients each and every day. These challenges include: prolonged hospital stays while waiting for heart surgery, encouraging mobility through enjoyable activities after surgery and decreasing recovery time.
The Triple Crown for Heart Association is a non-profit society dedicated to supporting the care of families who are admitted to the Heart and Acute Medical Unit at BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH). Our goal is to create support for projects that improve patient care and hospital experience.
Over the past three years the Triple Crown for Heart ride has grown and gained popularity. In 2010 we had 13 riders, raised $2,000 and supported the creation of a patio garden for the children and families to enjoy. In 2011, the event grew to 61 riders, in 2012 we had 117 riders and raised over $13,000, and in 2013 we raised over $22,000 with 160 riders.
Through this event, riders have helped many families in need, take a moment to read A Family’s Story.
