The Kits Energy Cycling Club was founded in 2010 to introduce new riders to the fabulous sport of road cycling. By following the monthly training programs, reading the weekly newsletters, and completing the workouts, every rider in the club will gain the fitness, skills, and confidence to participate in any group ride or long-distance event of their choosing.
Since 2010, the club has grown, and they now have several groups, each for beginner, intermediate, and advanced cyclists. They are unique as they assign their riders to the group that best suits their skill and fitness level. With everyone riding at the same speed and training goals, the coach can design a program and specific workouts for everyone in their group. The tailored workouts and supportive training environment challenge riders to excel, and no cyclist is riding alone.
In 2019, Kits Energy adopted the Triple Crown for Heart as their Official club charity ride. Did you know that most children born with genetic heart disease may never experience the joy of riding a bike? Can you imagine what it would be like to have your sports taken away from you or your kids?
Kristina Bangma, head coach and owner of Kits Energy, knows very well what that feels like. Although you would never know it from watching her coach and teach, Kristina was diagnosed with genetic heart disease in 2016, preventing her from training intensely or racing competitively.
The Triple Crown for Heart is a personal cause for Kristina, but as a Coach and Personal Trainer, she also understands more than most the importance exercise has on our mental and physical well-being. Participating or donating to the Triple Crown for Heart gives children born with heart disease a chance to go to a camp where they can play and be kids for a week - not heart patients.
